GORDON Hills Team

Gordon Hills Team was set up in 2013 to give Scouts, Explorers and leaders the opportunity to get experience, and participate in, hillwalking. To encourage them to keep fit, to take up a hobby that could last a lifetime if your lucky and be in some of the most beautiful parts of our country that you don't see from the car.

For the leaders it is a chance to brush up on your skills and gain confident to get hillwalking permit.

The walks take place on the first Saturday in the month (excl. Jan & Aug), starting around 10am. In February we start off on Lord Arthur's hill, near Alford. This is an ideal route for the potentally wintry weather and is short to cope with the length of daylight. In December we take to Tap o Noth, near Rhynie. On this route we also take the stoves with us and cook up a 3 course Christmas meal. The other 8 can be anywhere and the organiser, Ali Simpson,  sends out the annual list (see below) at the start of the year.

All the walks are led by qualified leaders and are designed to allow scouts with little or no hill walking experience to take part. Individual scouts are welcome to attend and there is no requirement for them to be accompanied by their leader, however adults (both leaders & parents) are more than welcome.

As there is a maximum number each time, you cannot just turn up but you need to sign up on each walk. If you are interested please contact the Team directly.
