Sweden

With 57 Gordon folk being in Sweden over the last couple of weeks, it is time for a quick update.

Stewart Moore and Lesley Cruickshank are both really enjoying their roles as assitant unit leaders at the world jamboree having now settled in and a re starting to get into a routine. The DC met with Stewart on his visit on a very warm day after a wet start to their camp. The unit leader, Dougie, was in a kids paddling pool. Lesley was away off site so didn't see them. Mathew Harker who is on the International Service Team was also there and seen.

The young representatives were also visited by the DC and they were having an ace time. The ones seen were Gillian Swarbrigg, Gregor Young, Meg Sutherland, Sam Murdoch, Angus MacLean and Roy Cook. They all met up with the visitors from Gordon (see photo - Gregor missing).

Westhill Group had 15 folk and Inverurie Group 10 spending 6 days in Sweden, including visiting the Jamboree.

An additional 23 from Gordon were across to do some hiking. 4 (Alistair Moore, Claire Grant, George Andrew and Susan Gerrie) were completing their Queen's Scout Award and Gold DofE hike by crossing over very rugged terrain from Norway into Sweden. 15 (Lachlan Musset, Helen Dalgarno, Jamie MacLean, John Kelman, Lorna Gooday, Aidan Wallace, Judith Anderson, Jamie Lomas, Helen Booth, Katie Lyne, Stephen Andrew, Hannah Gray, Martin Taylor, Myles Gowan and Gavin Barnett), split into 5 groups of 3, were completing the first ever District co-ordinated Explorer Belt. Despite a few problems for them to deal with, everyone completed the walk successfully. 7 left for home due to work commitments and the rest got together with the 4 leaders (Caroline Campbell, Phil Campbell, Keith Hewitt and Keith Millar) to visit the jamboree.

As they just arrived back today, a fuller account will follow later.
