Gordon Gathering 2019

The Gordon Gathering is back for 2019 with a move to being in May but the same venue.

Badge Competition

The competition to design this year’s camp badge began late last year. Please ensure that all entries are returned by the end of February to enable us to have these prepared in time. Entries can either be emailed to gathering@gordondistrictscouts.org.uk or posted to 42 Princess Drive, AB21 7JY.

Leaders Meeting

We will be hosting a leader’s meeting at BA stores on Thursday 18th April and Monday 22nd April. The same information will be given at both events which will start at 7pm.

Permission Forms

We now require final numbers for the camp and will need personal details in due course.

These can be completed either electronically or printed and returned. The group registration form needs to be completed before the end of February. We are asking that this be completed per group or unit rather than by each individual section. Once we have received these numbers, your group will receive an invoice for the full amount due.

Permission forms should be sent out to all participants and leaders. These are to be retained by the section or group leader for the duration of the camp. The group spreadsheet can be completed either as a whole group or by each individual section. This must include the details for all young people attending and leaders. This spreadsheet should be emailed to gathering@gordondistrictscouts.org.uk by the end of March 2019.
Along with the permission forms, you will also find an activity selection form for all those attending from the scout section and an extra permission form for Explorer Scouts for shooting.

Activities

With the Gordon Gathering is fast approaching and we need to confirm the activity bases to be provided by each Group. For the event to be a success we need each Group to provide one activity base per ten Youth Members attending. Please find below the current list of activity bases we would like to be offered in line with the initial program thoughts. As a base owner you will be responsible for providing materials, supervision and of course the risk assessment. However, a  number of the bases will be facilitated by the Gathering organising team, so will only require people to run (easy option) e.g. Bouncy Castles. Your base(s) doesn’t have to match the section you are bringing (we will balance bases across the total number of Youth Member attending). Bases not on the list will be considered. To avoid duplicates, bases will be allocated on a first come bases.

The Gathering’s success in the past has been down to the imagination and ingenuity of the may leaders and adult helpers who support this event. Without your direct help this event won’t run smoothly. Could you confirm what activity bases you would like your Section to offer in support of the Gordon Gathering by 15th February 2019. If you have any questions please contact Andy Till
